I can't count! All those strings and strips became blocks:
But when I put them on the wall, guess what? Argh! This kind of sewing is called mindless, just sew strips and strings until they'e big enough. Mindless is right -- it causes you to think you can sew 29 blocks and they magically become 30!! Go to www.patchworktimes.com to see more quilts in progress!
One of my biggest thrills is when someone shows the slightest interest in learning to quilt! I can't wait to show you!
Brita,
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I love the colors.
wow, those string blocks are just gorgeous!! So close, only one more to go!! I have to make 60, I'm making a mental note that 59 won't work ;)
ReplyDeleteSUch soft colors - I have not seen a string quilt made with these. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love making string quilts, and this one is especialy pretty. There is something about the string quilt process that I find very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's nice to just zone out and do mindless stuff -- especially when the result is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful top. I did a similar thing with a crazy patch quilt and tore my sewing room up looking for the block I KNEW I made. Never found it LOL
ReplyDeleteThe colors are great!
ReplyDeleteJust one more block, just one more block...! I love string quilts and yours is gorgeous!

I had that same problem recently. I just knew I had made the right amount but when I put them on the wall there was a hole on the bottom. so I made another and yesterday I found the original missing block. I guess it will be the label for the back. Oh, and I really like your quilt: lavender is beautiful no matter what you do to it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful quilt! Such pretty colors! And that counting thing gets us all at one time or another -either one too many blocks or one too few.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your quilt -- makes me want to do another one!
ReplyDeleteI always surprises me how stunning a simple pattern like this looks when put together. Mindless, yes. Beautiful, absolutely. Great job.
ReplyDeleteVery feminine and pretty! I usually have a scrap quilt of some sort going. It is mindless and enjoyable! Toni
ReplyDeleteSuch soft beautiful colors. What a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI just love anything made with string blocks. Your colors are beautiful. You could just make 31 and have 2 quilts. I almost never work with lavendar, and seeing your quilt is making me rethink that.
ReplyDeleteIt's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors in this string quilt. So soft and lovely. I have never made one, but it's on my to do list. I saw you over at Sarah's Whoop Whoop Friday~! Love your blog and will be visiting again.
