Overthinking has never been my strong suit. That's what I've done with my Pepper Dish recently, and I am so done with that. Flowers applique? Stars? Curliques? Fireworks quilting, an appliqued inner border, nothing. Totally boggled. So Pepper Dish has been unceremoniously stuffed into a basket with all its parts, both useful and maybe, and put away for the nonce. (Love that word!)
Instead, I'm going to play with all that "Swanky" yumminess here. These are jelly roll strips paired with white strips, that will become pinwheels. I'm using the method Eleanor Burns showed in a Simply Quilts show many moons ago. I actually jotted down the info during the show (no DVR, not even a VCR, back then). I'm having a blast, playing with this fabric and stitching mindlessly. Well, except whilst (another favorite word) trying to decipher my notes on how to do this ;-D
Don't know if this literally qualifies for Judy's Design Wall Monday at www.patchworktimes.com -- I hope she doesn't kick me off!
What beautiful fabric! I can't wait to see how it looks when you start putting the blocks together.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabric line is that? It looks so pretty! Judy is too nice to boot any one.
ReplyDeleteA willingness to share your work makes you qualified.... I did the same thing - writing notes about a quilt method while watching the show - many times. Makes for interesting projects.
ReplyDeleteYour jelly roll is yummy. It will look great as pinwheels.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty collection of fabrics. I love all things Elenor Burns, she has tons of her old shows in her website if you need help with the notes. I can't read my own handwriting 90% of the time.
ReplyDeleteThe pepper dish quilt will be gorgeous when you are done, sometimes letting inspiration will hit you out of the blue. I love random patterns quilted my quilts.
Pretty pile of fabric! I love pinwheels.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is really pretty. Can't wait to see the pinwheels
ReplyDeleteSometimes a break helps inspiration - easy mindless, FUN quilting gets the old juices flowing again. What fun fabrics and who can't love pinwheels. Enjoy your sewing break.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful strips. Looks like a lot of fun to play with.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun play time ahead.
ReplyDeleteA girl needs a little play time after working so hard on your other beautiful project. Swanky is the perfect "fun" fabric. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
